According to the U.N.’s latest “happiness index”, Canada is the 6th happiest country in the world! (out of 187 countries indexed). Not bad at all!
The United Nations Human Development Index 2011 considered factors such as income, education, health, life expectancy, economy, gender equality and sustainability when determining where in the world people live the best lives. To put that in perspective, not surprisingly Norway ranked first and the Democratic Republic of Congo came last. The United Kingdom came in 28th while the United States ranked 4th.
Additionally, for all the Vancouverites out there, we came in first as the best city in the world to live in with Melbourne, Australia coming in 2nd according to the Annual Liveable City List released by the Economic Intelligence Unit. It gets even better. Toronto and Calgary are 4th and 5th!
How fantastic is that? All-in-all, Canada is a great place to live, work, and do business! When I reflect on this, I cannot help but feel that a little optimism is in order as we approach the end 2011 and begin an exciting new 2012. So make your plans, set your goals, and get ready to make 2012 your most successful year in business yet!
