All Aboard: Save Your People From Drowning with Strategic Onboarding

The diversity of today’s working population makes attracting and retaining the best people significantly more difficult than in years past. Organizations are making important changes to their on boarding programs in order to overcome recruiting and retention challenges. Can these changes reduce their companies – and their people – from becoming just another statistic?

  • 33% of employees who have been in their current job for less than six months and are already job searching.
  • 33% of externally-hired executives who miss expectations in the first two years.
  • 60% turnover rate that companies experience every four years (based on 10 to 15% annual attrition).
  • 71% of survey respondents are currently updating their on boarding programs.
  • 73% of survey respondents are changing their on boarding programs to accelerate employee performance and improve retention and loyalty.

Email is not dead: How to Use Email to Book Appointments Faster

If you have been in business for at least 20 years, then like me, you are addicted to email. And, if you have been in business at least 20 years, like me, you are a decision maker. Put “addiction” together with “decision maker” and you have a winning formula.

Like Pavlovian dogs, decision makers are looking for a little lovin’ from their Inbox; so why not give it to them. How? In a short compelling email that piques their attention and encourages them to respond.

So try this with a prospect that you have been trying to connect with for months.

Here’s the formula – It’s called the 3C’s

Let’s break it down. The following example was used by a client of mine in the janitorial supply sector who was trying to get an appointment, with no success, for months. After this email, the appointment was booked.

Subject Line: Meeting with you

Body: I understand that you plan accordingly. My objective is to ensure you increase your employee’s efficiency and reduce your expenses. Let’s meet to discuss. Is Tuesday April 22 at 10 am or Wednesday April 23 at 2 pm better for you?

That’s it! No more, no less. They know who YOU are. They just need to be assured that you will not waste their time. Try it.
